Technology and Word

As a student, I use Microsoft Word almost everyday. I use Word to primarily write essays. However, I also use Word to take notes in class because it is faster than writing them. I have seen my teachers use Word to guide presentations in class.

My personal experience with copyright is just making sure every source I use is cited or I always credit the person I get the information from. Being fair with materials in an educational environment is just proper etiquette and cheating is not something I take lightly, as a student or as a future educator. I am always fair and I believe in doing my own work and not stealing someone else's or allowing them to copy off me. As a teacher, I would just begin every year by making it clear to my students that copyright is serious and that cheating will not be tolerated, and consequences would be given.

To combat academic dishonesty in my classroom, I would ensure every student took an oath and signed their name to a quote or paragraph on cheating or plagiarism. This oath would just be a personal statement of their awareness of the policy against academic dishonesty. It would also be telling me they are aware that consequences are given out to people who don't follow the rules. It would be signed to ensure they are honest from the beginning and have truly understood what they have read.

To reverse the lack of funding I would simply look for other sources. I may use some of my own money to buy resources for the class. I may also look to the parents of my students to help buy a few of the cheaper classroom items. If needed, I would bring it up to the school board and hope they do the right thing and give a base fund which could be used to buy materials for the classroom.

  1. If it is for an educational purpose, it is OK for the most of time. But it is important to keep in mind that referenced work belongs to other people's and it is always good to give credit to the original authors.
